Why Forgiveness Is Possibly The Most Powerful Thing You Can Do For Yourself!
Forgiveness is more than some noble thing you say to others.
“I forgive you”, words said intellectually but nothing about your life changes. Emotionally you feel the same but you perhaps wish you didn’t. And you try anything to feel better. Just paying lip service to the words.
Forgiveness is more than just a few words; it’s a way to remove the blockages from the past than enable you to get what you want now.
When you truly forgive, something in you dies and something in you is born.
You will change.
Change isn’t something you feel or see, it’s in the results that you notice life has changed.
The degree to which you change will depend on how long you’ve been stuck in the past and how many areas are affected your life.
You also have to decide how willing you are to change. How willing you are to move forward. All too often the past is attractive to us because its finite, we know what happened. Part of our identity is tied up in the past. Perhaps we punish ourselves by remembering the past in a way that we thinks evens the score.
The goal is to not forget our past or block it out, the goal is to find the nuggets in the past that are trapped behind the pain, parts of ourselves we lost back then through pain and trauma or a hard situation.
Forgiveness isn’t something God does for you. It’s not a religious experience. God has already forgiven you. It’s you that must forgive yourself.
It takes courage. It is not the easy road. It’s not a case of grit your teeth and do it.
The key to feeling as if you deserve to be forgiven is in your willingness to let it be different.
All forgiveness is self forgiveness.
Forgiveness is a powerful technique that brings about lasting change.
Are you willing to allow life to be different?
